Does the library have calculators, headphones, chargers, or other equipment I can borrow?
Answered By: Margot Hanson

Yes! The library has a variety of items that you can check out from the Service Desk on the first floor, for loan periods of 4 hours at a time.

These items are available for you to borrow:

  • Basic scientific calculator (TI-30XS)
  • Four-function calculator
  • Graphing calculator (TI-83 Plus)
  • Noise-cancelling headphones
  • Several types of adapters including USB-C to HDMI and USB-C 5-in-1 multiport
  • Mac SuperDrive disc players for DVDs or CDs
  • Portable chargers (We also have stand-alone charging stations in a few locations in the library, for phones or other devices)
  • Portable whiteboards and markers
  • Maker boxes with scissors, glue, rulers, etc.

We also lend out laptops.

We also have a small supply of 4GB USB drives available for purchase at the Service Desk on the first floor of the library.

Additionally, IT Services provides short-term equipment lending services to SMC students, faculty, and staff. Their website has information about the types of equipment available, such as laptops, cameras & tripods, projectors, adapters / cables, and more (requires login).
