The Essential Needs Program offers students support with navigating on and off-campus services to ensure their success while attending Saint Mary's College. Essential Needs collaborates with students on items from navigating finances (understanding financial aid packages, budgeting, etc.), ensuring access to food, to supporting with applying to government support services such as CalFresh and Medicaid, and more.
Particularly at the start of the semester, students may be experiencing challenges with affording textbooks required for classes. In addition to the Library's Course Reserves, which offer 2 hour borrowing periods, the Essential Needs Program offers textbook borrowing for students. This list of available textbooks and course texts can simply be shared with your students so they can borrow a book from the program for the semester!
Please feel free to reach out to the Essential Needs Program if you are interested in a classroom presentation or collaboration at essentialneeds@stmarys.edu. This same contact and our website can be shared with students who may be interested in collaborating as well.
Wishing everyone well with the start of the new academic year!
Sincerely,
Essential Needs Program
