How do I request a book be put on hold for me?
Answered By: Swetta Abeyta

  1. On the Library website, look for the search box that says Library Search. Search for the book you want.

  2. When you find the book you want in the results, click on the title.
Note: To narrow your results to just print books, check the filters on the left for Books and Physical Items.

  3. Click the link to sign in, in the yellow box, then sign in with your SMC login.

  4. Then click "Get a Physical Item" if you want the whole book to be placed on hold, or click "Need a digital article or chapter?" if you just want a chapter emailed to you.
Note: If you are a faculty or graduate student, you can have books from the library collection mailed to you; just request this in the "comments" field and add your mailing address.

  5. You will get an email within 24 hours when the book is ready for pickup. Come to the Service Desk with your SMC ID during the Library's open hours to pick it up.
