How do I find streaming videos through the Library?
Answered By: Gina Kessler Lee

The Library provides students, faculty, and staff with hundreds of thousands of (mostly academic) streaming videos.

You can browse our collections of streaming films. These collections include:

  • Kanopy
  • Academic Video Online (Alexander Street)
  • Dance Online (Alexander Street)
  • Films on Demand (Infobase)
  • Film Platform
  • LGBT Studies in Video (Alexander Street)

Or use Library Search to search across platforms (except Kanopy) for a particular film, director, or topic:

  1. Use the Library Search box on the library website. If you're looking for a specific movie, you can search for the title. Or you can search by director, actor, or subject.

  2. If you see a bunch of books and articles instead of the movie you're looking for, refine your results: go to Source Type on the left, click Show More, select Videos, and click Apply Filters:

  3. Animated gif of limiting to video: user goes to Source Type, clicks Show More, and clicks Video.

  4. Videos may be listed as DVDs you can check out at the Library Service Desk...

or as streaming videos (available online):

  5. If it's available online, click "Available Online" and then click the link to the database the film is in.

Note: Most streaming videos in Kanopy are not listed in the catalog; go directly to Kanopy to search for a film. Please stream Kanopy responsibly (we get charged high fees for movies streamed through Kanopy).
