I'm a transfer student--what do I need to know about the library?
Answered By: Gina Kessler Lee

Welcome to Saint Mary's!  We hope you'll find many of the same library resources you know from your previous institution, and maybe more! If you have questions, ask us!

Library website

Library spaces

  • The Library is open to all (see library hours)
  • You can talk quietly and eat snacks in most library spaces
  • There is a Silent Study Zone on the ground floor
  • Book a study room to meet with a group, hop on a Zoom, or study without distractions
    • Our sensory room features seating, lighting, and accessories for neurodiverse students

Things you can borrow from the Library

  • Your SMC ID card is your library card
  • Use the Library Search box on the homepage to see what books, e-books, videos, and other stuff you can get from the Library
  • Textbooks (2-hour checkout)
  • Laptops
  • Headphones
  • Whiteboard markers
  • Maker boxes with scissors, glue, etc.
  • and more!

Research Help

  • Research Guides: Find databases and other sources important for your major
  • Get to know the Subject Librarian for your major
  • You can also get drop-in help at the reference desk in the Library or online

We're happy to help you with your research or just to find your way around the library!
