How do I find a DOI?
Answered By: Julie McPherson

A DOI, or Digital Object Identifier, is a unique and permanent identifier for scholarly documents on the web. A DOI usually starts with the numeral 10 and can be followed by forward slashes, periods and sometimes dashes. There is no limit on the length of the DOI. For more information on creating a DOI, you can consult the DOI Handbook. You can usually find the DOI in the record of an article, in the article itself or in the citation for an article. Not all articles have DOIs. For more information, visit the DOI Foundation or Ask Us!
