What is SciFinder? How do I create a SciFinder account?
Answered By: Margot Hanson

SciFindern provides access to Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) databases including: CAPlus, CAS Registry, CASREACT, CHEMLIST, and CHEMCATS. [Note: The "classic" SciFinder interface was retired July 2022]

CAPlus, an expanded version of Chemical Abstracts, abstracts journal articles from over 10,000 journals, 1907 to the present. CAPlus also includes patents, and summaries of conference presentations. Subjects covered are biochemistry, organic chemistry, macromolecular chemistry, applied chemistry, and physical, inorganic and analytical chemistry.

CAS Registry, describes the name, synonyms, molecular formula, and structure for 55 million substances, and is the source of Registry Numbers (RN). These databases are also accessible through STN Web and other vendors.
