How do I access Rosetta Stone through the Library?
Answered By: Service Desk Library

The library provides access to tutorials in 30 languages through Rosetta Stone. Access is for Level 1 only.

Users can learn various languages through programs that have them interact through spoken dialogue, text and photographic images at their own pace. Users may also take interactive tests with speech recognition software to measure their progress and practice listening, speaking, and writing through a variety of exercises.

Instructions to access the Library's subscription to Rosetta Stone:

  1. Search for Rosetta Stone in the Library's list of databases. (To get to the list of databases in the future, from the Library homepage, scroll down to the Find menu and click the link for Databases. Search for Rosetta Stone in the search box in the upper right corner.)
  2. Click on Rosetta Stone.
  3. You may be routed to a SMC login screen first. If so, log in with your SMC credentials.
  4. Now you will see a Rosetta Stone login screen. If you are a first-time Rosetta Stone user, enter your email address and choose a password and language you want to learn. If you have used the Library's Rosetta Stone account before, enter your email address and the password you set up with Rosetta Stone and choose a language. Click Sign In.
  5. Click Launch Rosetta Stone Foundations.

To get the Rosetta Stone app on your mobile device:

  1. Search for Rosetta Stone in the App Store or Google Play store.
  2. Download the Rosetta Stone app.
  3. DO NOT launch the app once installed.
  4. Instead, open your web browser.
  5. Go to the Library website, scroll down to the Find menu and click the link for Databases. Search for Rosetta Stone and click on the Rosetta Stone link.
  6. Once routed to the log-in screen, enter your email, password, and language you desire to learn.
  7. Click Sign In to enter the program.
  8. Click Launch Rosetta Stone Foundations.
  9. The lesson will then launch automatically in the Rosetta Stone app.
  10. In the future, you should be able to open the Rosetta Stone app directly and continue with your language practice. If it logs you out, repeat the steps above.
